Community locations
Participation is one of the core values of The Pro SMP. From the moment the server was born until today the day we think that a Minecraft server works the best when everyone takes their part of ownership over it. Some people in the community decide to work on initiatives that are useful for everyone on the server and contribute to the earlier described phenomenon of participation. These initiatives deserve the recognition of the staff team, and that is why we have community locations.
Community locations are locations on the server that are contributive to the community and benefit everyone. In reward for the effort that people put into building these locations, we give them a free and memorizable short warp. With just one command, people from all over the server can head out straight to the community location they want to visit. These locations also get listed on the page where you are looking at right now.
Starting your own community location is as easy as getting straight to work and building something truly amazing that will not just benefit you, but the entire community instead. Think of marketplaces, large utility facilities, hangout places and so on. Design something you believe that would contribute to the community, start building it, ensure you are prepared for the location becoming public and then contact an admin to apply for the community location status and the benefits that come with it!
Please keep the following things in mind when you’re interested in starting a community location:
- Community locations are by no means meant as a way to indirectly get a warp to your own base. That is why we will be strict in our review of your community location. If we determine that you quickly rushed a purposed community location for the sake of having a warp to (close to) your base, we will deny your request. It’s not disallowed to have your base near your community location, but keep in mind that you’ll be subject to a more in-depth review of your location.
- Community locations should abide by high quality standards. They must look good, and the organisational part of it must be rocket solid. As an example, if you start a marketplace you must be able to explain and show us exactly how you will be allocating spots for people to sell their stuff at.
- You must be dedicated to your community location and we expect you to actively manage and maintain it. If your community location is inactive and poorly managed or maintained, we can revoke your community location status.
- Please be creative with your community location project! The examples given on this page are just to give you an indication of what’s possible. But please, think outside of the borders and don’t be scared to create something nobody did before! After all, the community doesn’t benefit from several nearly identifical community locations. That’s why we require your community location to be unique and not a replica of an already existing location.
- If you’re in doubt if your plan for a community location is something that meets our requirements, feel free to reach out to an admin! During the building process, you can also ask us to review what you already built. This way you can avoid being disappointed by an unexpected denyal of purposed community location.
